Az. & Mont. Targeted As Next Blue States
Arizona and Montana are targeted by the national party as the next states to develop Democratic majorities, according to Don Bevins, state party chairman. He spoke at a state party meeting in Kingman, attended by delegates from Navajo County and others from around the state.

Bivens mentioned that the Service Employees Union International was ready to make a big investment in the state, and that Democrats were beating Republicans in fund-raising 2-1.

Delegates were generally excited about news that verbal brawler J.D. Hayworth may challenge John McCain in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate.

The commitment of eight full-time Organizing for America workers to Arizona was seen as a helpful sign.

The convention was held Nov. 21.
