White Mountain Apaches Pick Education As Top Issue
Education is the top issue for White Mountain Apache voters, according to a poll taken at the recent Housing Fair in Whiteriver. Of the respondents, 97 listed education as the most important concern. Closely following were water rights and employment, tied at 87 votes each.
The poll was taken by ApachesVote.Org. Respondents were allowed to make multiple selections. The next tier of issues included freedom from crime, with 37 votes; avoiding changes in law that would adversely impact the casino, 34 votes; and the environment, with 32 votes. The event was attended by Democratic Senate Candidate Elaine Bohlmeyer and House candidate Bill Shumway.
